Fertility

Whether you are planning to use high tech fertility treatments, or take the more natural approach, acupuncture, often in conjunction with a course of pre-prepared Chinese herbal formulae can increase your chances of achieving pregnancy and giving birth to a healthy baby.

Once pregnant acupuncture can help with a variety of issues from prevention of miscarriage to morning sickness.

Over the years the number of women and couples coming to me for treatment in this area has increased substantial.  As a result I have undertaken further study into the subject, firstly with Charlie Buck at the Northern College of Acupuncture, then with Jane Lyttleton author of Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine and more recently with Zita West, which led on to becoming a Zita West Affiliated Acupuncturist

Acupuncture and pre-prepared Chinese herbal formulae uses the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for maintaining a balanced system. My aim is to strengthen the patient’s health, thus allowing the inborn ability of conception to take place. A healthy more balanced body will conceive more naturally. It stands to reason that pregnancy is more likely to occur in a “healthy” woman versus an “unhealthy” woman.

Acupuncture and herbal therapy can improve the quality of both eggs and sperm by increasing the flow of nourishing blood and Qi to the area, this process will take at least three months.

If ART including IUI, IVF or ICIS is the route decided upon then a course of acupuncture and pre-prepared Chinese herbal formulae along with a good diet and nutritional supplements in the months prior to this process will help put your body in the best position for a good outcome.

A number of research undertaking over the last few years has shown that acupuncture during ART particularly IVF and ICIS can significantly improve the chances of pregnancy. I offer this as a stand alone course of treatment or in addition to a course of preparation treatment.
